Is there an age limit for LGV drivers?
If you’re wondering if there is an age limit for LGV drivers then Sigma Studies has the answer!
The requirements for driving a lorry, bus or coach professionally state that you need to be over the age of 18 (with some exceptions). As well as being the correct age, it is important that you already have a full, valid car licence as this is needed for all types of training. You will also need to get the Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) professional driving qualification. Fortunately, Sigma Studies can help you in all aspects of the Driver CPC Qualification and whilst Sigma is based in Orsett, we provide training all over the UK. This certificate has been a requirement since 10th September 2008 for bus or coach drivers (10th September 2009 for lorry drivers) who plan to drive these vehicles as part of their job. Once you have your licence, you will need to renew it every 5 years and at the age of 65 this increases to once every year.
